scarlet oak sawfly

The Scarlet Oak Sawfly is an insect predominately found on Pin Oak trees. Discovered in our area in 2010, the larvae of the Scarlet Oak Sawfly skeletonize the leaves in the upper 1/3 to1/2 of the tree crown. The tissue between the leaf veins is eaten, leaving the leaves white and translucent.

The major problem with this insect is major defoliation in repeated years.
